The Trump-era Title 42 immigration policy that has expelled 2.5 million “asylum seekers” since its implementation in March 2020 is set to expire on Wednesday. As a result, it’s expected that border crossings could double as soon as next week.
The Biden administration’s plan in response to this has been the same as it has in response to all things border-related: nothing. And at least one Democrat is admitting it.
Texas Democrat Representative Henry Cuellar, whose district ends at the U.S.-Mexico border, slammed the administration during an appearance on CBS’ Face the Nation.
Host Margaret Brennan asked “Congressman, in a letter to the President this week, you warned that this week when Title 42 lifts, they’ll have a complete loss of operational control over the southern border. And that’s going to have a profoundly negative impact on border communities. You know, the White House is saying that they’ve got a plan here. Why are you saying they don’t?
